Mr. Schurig retired as a senior partner from Cohn Reznick LLP on February 1, 2018. Cohn Reznick LLP is a national accounting firm. Mr. Schurig was a partner at Cohn Reznick for over 20 years primarily working in the consumer and retail sectors. While at Cohn Reznick LLP, Mr. Schurig was the Retail and Consumer Products Industry Practice Leader and the senior advisor to the Private Equity and Venture Capital Industry Practice. During his years at Cohn Reznick LLP., Mr. Schurig represented numerous public and private companies as well as a number of private equity firms. Mr. Schurig was one of the top business development partners at Cohn Reznick LLP. In addition, he presented at numerous events and was quoted in the media.
Previously, Mr. Schurig was a partner with Weidenbaum Ryder, a mid sized accounting firm in New Jersey which merged into JHCohn LLP. in 1995, the predecessor to Cohn Reznick LLP. Prior to merging with Weidenbaum Ryder, Mr. Schurig was the Founder and partner of Puzo and Schurig & Co. which grew substantially from a purchase of an accounting firm in 1980. During this time, Mr. Schurig was also a 50% shareholder in RP Investment Counselors Inc , a broker dealer that raised funds for investment deals. Also, Mr. Schurig served on the board of directors and was actively involved in the management of many of the companies where the broker dealer raised the funds. In addition, Mr. Schurig had ownership in these companies. RP Investment Counselors Inc. ceased operation during the late 90's.
Prior to starting these businesses, from 1977-1980, Mr. Schurig was Director of Financial Planning at The Ormond Shops, a specialty retail store company.
Mr. Schurig started his career in 1974 at Price Waterhouse, a big eight accounting firm after graduating from Fairleigh Dickenson University with a Bachelor of Science degree and major in accounting. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey and New York and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and New Jersey and New Yok Society of Certified Public Accountants. While at Cohn Reznick, he was a member of The National Retail Federation.
